After we left Rotarua we headed North West about 3.5 hours up the road to an absolutely serene little beach town called Whitianga in the Coromandel Peninsula. We spent 4 nights here but it was such a great place to stay and explore from, we wish we had spent much longer here. We stayed in the Esplanade Apartments which were such a welcoming location with an incredible view overlooking mercury bay & the harbor side. While the view had us wanting to sit there and daydream all day we still managed to stay active and get out there to explore the beach boardwalk and also Waikato or Hot Water Beach.
