We just boarded our first cruise of three in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, which will have us exploring 22 ports in the Caribbean over the next 30 days! This cruise is a two week itinerary on the Holland America Nieuw Amersterdam which will have us exploring the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Cozumel, Key West, Turks and Caicos and Amber Cove, Dominican Republic.
We normally do not travel this way or this quickly…the norm that our family likes to embrace is to travel to a location and then spend several weeks exploring and getting settled into a routine which allows us to immerse ourselves in the local cuisine, culture and activities/scenic nature of the area. So we are all a little excited and nervous on how traveling to so many ports so quickly would feel, as taking back to back cruises is not something we ever planned for or thought we would ever do. One of our goals was to see as much of the Caribbean as we could and to work our way south so that we could eventually meet up with some of the sailing families that we met while we began our sailing/traveling adventure wintered in Marina diRagusa Italy during last winter’s season. (These families are now in the Caribbean as they have just successfully completed crossing the Atlantic) We are very excited! ???
