Amber cove, Dominican Republic. Northern coast of Dominican Republic where the original Jurassic park was filmed. Lots of rum factories, coffee plantations, wild horses, cigar factories & amber museum. We decided to go see the summit of Mount Isabela de Torres. Where we rode the Caribbean’s only cable car for the scenic 2700 feet ascent & descent with incredible views of the island through the clouds. It was built in 1975 & has only 1 suspension tower that spans the cabled distance between the bottom & summit stops. A Christ the redeemer statue (similar to the one in Rio de Janeiro) awaits at the summit. Also a very beautiful nature reserve, pasamos cave & lush, colorful botanical gardens. Afterwards we cooled off in the coco cana pools near amber cove. Very fun day. When we come back & have more time here we want to go see the 27 waterfalls near here & go tour the amber mine in The hills of La Cumbre. Some of the entrances to the mines run some 200 feet deep & produce some of the oldest & clearest amber in the world.
