Berjaya Times Square Theme Park is the largest indoor theme park in Malaysia and was a fun way to spend some time inside when the haze was too strong here to be outside. Pretty wild to see such big rides indoors at a mall! Why is there haze in Malaysia?? No its not pollution or fog, it’s from the palm farm & forest fires! The news is talking about the fires in the Amazon but there’s a big haze problem here too in Malaysia from farmers & corporations paying farmers to start the fires as a quick & easy way to prep their lands for the next crop. It’s a very political topic as each government is blaming the next country adjacent. The players are Indonesia, Malaysia & Thailand. Farmers start the fires so it can’t be tied to a corporation & they theoretically use the monsoon season to subsequently put the fires out. Big problem when the rains are late & monsoon season is stalling. Luckily the rains have just started & hopefully this will abate some of the hot spots in these delicate jungles.
