Falmouth, Jamaica

/

We arrived into Falmouth, Jamaica on February 25th, 2020, alongside another much larger cruise ship so the port and surrounding area was somewhat swamped with people pitching their handle and tour services. We decided to wander around town and in the port on our own & sample the local music, food & culture. We enjoyed listening to the lively reggae music while indulging in a cider beer and people watching. The kids quickly grew bored of this stop partly because we did not have an excursion planned & once we realized another ship was in port it was too late to book one. Walking around town, the locals were nice enough but we were not used to being swarmed by people begging for our attention. As I mentioned before, we prefer to visit an area by easing into the culture, music and food scene so Lexi & Sebastian were a little surprised at the frantic energy that surrounded us as we walked around. At one point, a local commented on my wedding ring and the kids were wondering why he had noticed it…. Not sure if it was an innocent, casual remark or not….We changed direction and followed our kid’s lead in that they wanted to return to the ship and swim and enjoy the onboard adventure club. After a quick swim and checking the kids in to the club onboard, Leonard & I went back out into port and enjoyed a beer and some more music. All in all, a lovely place that I’m sure we would enjoy much more if we had spent more time here in a less controlled way.
