Key west Florida. The southernmost point in the USA. We actually ported in a navel intelligence base where we were told we couldn’t take any photos of the base. Those that wanted to leave the ship and go into town to explore were taken into town via open air tram. Once aboard the tram the driver gave us a quick little history primer of the area and told us when we were safely outside the navel bases’ jurisdiction so that we could then take photos. Once we got into the downtown of Key west, it was a very fun town to walk around & explore. We loved the architecture, warm breezes & banyan trees that are decades and decades old & twist and turn every which way. We saw Ernest Hemingway’s house & Truman’s little White House & presidential gates. A fun fact we learned is that key west is considered one of the most haunted places in the US & many locals paint the underside of their porch ceiling Caribbean blue so that spirits will not cross over the patio threshold as spirits will not cross over water…what if the spirit is already in the house?!?! ?
